1. BOARD MEETINGS FOR 2010-2011
The AHRA Board met three times for the period 2010-2011 as below:

2. NEW ORDINARY MEMBERS
The following two hotel associations joined as ordinary member:
• Cambodia Hotel Association
• Myanmar Hotel Association
This brings the total number of ordinary members to 9.
3. ACTIVITIES AND PROJECTS
3.1 AHRA Bartenders’ Competition
The annual AHRA Bartenders’ Competition took place at the Singapore EXPO in Singapore on 21 April 2010. It was organized by the Singapore Hotel Association (SHA), Singapore Exhibition Services (SES) and the Association of Bartenders and Sommeliers Singapore (ABSS) and presented by AHRA.
The competition was held in conjunction with Food and Hotel Asia Singapore which took place from 20 to 23 April 2010 at the Singapore EXPO.
A total of 8 participants from Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand took part in the finals of the competition.
The winners were as follows:

All competitors were given a certificate of participation while the top three winners received a trophy and cash prizes as follows:
1st runner-up: S$ 600
2nd runner-up: S$ 400
In the year itself, a set of roles and responsibilities of all stakeholders involved in the organizing of the event was established.
3.2 Country Reports
At every meeting, each member country took turns to briefly report on the performance of the tourism and hotel industry in their country.
3.3 AHRA Website
The AHRA website is being revamped and the new website is expected to be ready in 2011. Besides providing information of AHRA and its members, the website will also allow for hotel room bookings. The Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) has been tasked to look into the revamp of the website.
4. Collaboration with Horwath International
4.1 Regional Briefing
Mr Robert Hecker, Managing Director of Horwath International was invited to share with AHRA members an update on the performance of hotels in the key cities in ASEAN. This took place at the meeting in Phnom Penh, Cambodia on 17 January 2011. Members found the briefing very informative.
4.2 Annual Hotel Performance Survey for AHRA
AHRA in collaboration with Horwath International produced the second report on hotel operations in some of the AHRA member countries, namely, Bangkok, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Singapore and Ho Chih Minh City/Hanoi. The report was shared with all AHRA members.
At the meeting in Brunei, Mr Robert Hecker also shared key findings of the report with AHRA members. He also shared with the meeting the outlook for the hotel industry for key cities in Asia.
